This blog has the purpose of collecting information created by students of the FCE group on Mondays & Wednesdays at Cultura Inglesa Higienópolis about their favourite films.
Characters: Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet): She is a young woman of the high-class who lost your father and her mother forces her to engage with a rich man. She boards the Titanic in the first-class. Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio): He is a poor man who has traveled to some places of the world. In a poker game, Jack wins two tickets of the third-class to the Titanic and boards with his friend. Caledon 'Cal' Hockley (Cilly Zane): He is a rich and arrogant man who has a heritage of a fortune of steel. He's the fiancé of Rose and gives to her a famous diamond called "Heart Of The Ocean". Ruth DeWitt Bukater (Frances Fisher): She is Rose's mother who wants to ensure the status of her family and believes that the marriage to Cal is the best for her daughter. She doesn't like of Jack. Soundtrack: The soundtrack of Titanic includes a lot of instrumental songs. However, the most famous song of this film is "My Heart Will Go On" of Celine Dion, the signature song of Jack and Rose. About the Plot: Titanic talks about a story of a humble guy who wins a tiket to a huge "ship of dreams" called Titanic. There, Jack meets a rich and beautiful girl, Rose, and they fall in love. They face a lot of problems bacause of prejudice about their social class. The big point of the film, is when the Titanic collides with an iceberg, and most of people there die, including Jack. The story is narrated by the old Rose, who is now, 84 years old, remembering her love story. The film is also based in a real facts.
Awards & rating: The Movie Titanic, was nominated to 14 oscars, who has won 11 including: best picture, directing, cinematograpy, art direction, original song( my heart will go on), film editing, original dramatic score, visual effects, sound effects editing, sound and costume designs. As we can see, Titanic is a excelent film, and my rating for all, considering the time it was made(1997), is 10!
